ENGINEERING APPROACH

Make the assumptions explicit.

A connection alone does not establish what a signal means or whether it is suitable for a decision. Our approach is to document the plant, check the evidence and state the limits of every assessment.

Interoperability needs context.

BACnet or Modbus access is part of the proposed initial qualification. Protocol access still needs a site-level review of point names, units, equipment relationships, update rates and permissions. Compatibility must be established for the actual plant configuration; the presence of a protocol is not sufficient by itself.

Use a plant model people can inspect.

The intended model connects equipment and measurements to documented physical relationships. Engineers should be able to see how an interpretation was made, which source supports it and what remains uncertain. Changes to the model should be versioned so assessments can be traced to the configuration used.

Specify how performance will be assessed.

Before a validation programme begins, the parties should agree the measurement boundary, baseline approach, relevant operating variables and treatment of uncertainty. A method’s suitability depends on the question, the available measurements and the site’s operating conditions. No method is treated as a substitute for usable evidence.

Separate design principles from certification.

This page describes our intended engineering approach. It does not assert certification, third-party approval or compliance with any named standard. Applicable requirements and evidence obligations would be identified for each engagement. Formal certification or independent verification should be claimed only when supported by the relevant assessment.
